Our Beliefs & Values – The Potter’s House Reno

At The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship in Reno, Nevada, we believe that the Bible is God’s Word and the foundation for everything we teach and practice. Our desire is to see lives transformed through the power of Jesus Christ, families strengthened, disciples raised up, and the Gospel preached throughout our community and around the world.

We are a Bible-based Christian church committed to preaching the Gospel, evangelism, discipleship, prayer, and helping people develop a genuine relationship with Jesus Christ.

Our beliefs are not simply traditions we follow. They are biblical principles that guide how we worship, live, serve, and fulfill the Great Commission.

Our Vision: A Church Built on the Bible

We believe the Church should follow the biblical pattern established in the New Testament. Jesus commanded His followers to make disciples, baptize believers, and teach them to obey His Word (Matthew 28:19-20). Our vision is to see people saved, trained, equipped, and sent out to fulfill God’s purpose. Every Christian has a part to play in the work of God, and every generation has a responsibility to carry the Gospel forward.

The Bible: The Foundation of Our Faith

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and the final authority for Christian faith, doctrine, and daily living. Second Timothy 3:16-17 teaches that Scripture is given by inspiration of God and equips believers for every good work. God’s Word provides direction for our relationship with Him, our families, our decisions, and our responsibilities as Christians. Our goal is not simply to know the Bible but to live according to its teachings.

Salvation Through Jesus Christ

We believe salvation is found through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again. The Bible teaches that all have sinned and need God’s forgiveness (Romans 3:23). Through repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, people can receive forgiveness and experience a new life with God. Jesus declared that He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). We believe the message of salvation is for everyone, regardless of their past or circumstances.

Preaching: Proclaiming God’s Word

We believe biblical preaching is central to the life and ministry of the Church. Romans 10:17 teaches that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. At The Potter’s House Reno, our services emphasize clear, direct, Bible-based preaching that confronts sin, builds faith, encourages repentance, and challenges people to follow Jesus Christ. We believe the Gospel should be preached with conviction, compassion, and the power of the Holy Spirit.

Evangelism: Reaching Reno and the World

We believe every Christian is called to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In Mark 16:15, Jesus commanded His disciples to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. We are committed to reaching people in Reno, Sparks, and surrounding communities through personal witnessing, outreach, and preaching. We also support missionary work and church planting to help spread the Gospel around the world.

Discipleship: Training Believers to Follow Jesus

We believe becoming a Christian is the beginning of a lifelong journey of following Jesus Christ. In Luke 9:23, Jesus taught that His followers must deny themselves, take up their cross daily, and follow Him. Discipleship involves learning Scripture, developing spiritual discipline, serving others, and growing in obedience to God. At The Potter’s House Reno, we seek to equip believers to become faithful Christians, effective witnesses, and future leaders.

Family: Building Strong Christian Homes

We believe the family is an important part of God’s design and that biblical principles provide the foundation for strong homes. Joshua 24:15 declares, “As for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” We encourage strong marriages, godly parenting, and raising children in the ways of the Lord. Our church seeks to strengthen families and help parents, children, and young people grow together in their relationship with God.

Christian Living: Putting Faith Into Action

We believe Christianity is more than attending church services; it is a daily commitment to following Jesus Christ. James 1:22 challenges believers to be doers of the Word and not hearers only. Our faith should influence our character, relationships, decisions, and conduct. We encourage believers to live with faithfulness, holiness, generosity, and personal responsibility, demonstrating their faith through the way they live.

Prayer: Depending on the Power of God

We believe prayer is essential to the spiritual life of every Christian and the strength of the local church. Acts 2:42 describes the early believers continuing steadfastly in prayer. Through prayer, we seek God’s direction, wisdom, strength, healing, and help in every area of life. We encourage every believer to develop a consistent personal prayer life and participate in the prayer life of the church.

The Holy Spirit: Power for Christian Living

We believe in the present-day work and power of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 1:8, Jesus promised that His followers would receive power through the Holy Spirit to become His witnesses. We believe the Holy Spirit empowers Christians to live for God, share the Gospel, and fulfill His calling. We also believe in the spiritual gifts described in First Corinthians 12 and their operation according to biblical teaching.

Church Planting: Reaching the Next Generation

We believe church planting is part of God’s plan for spreading the Gospel. Throughout the book of Acts, believers preached, made disciples, and established churches in new communities. As part of The Potter’s House Christian Fellowship, we share a vision for raising up workers, training future pastors, and sending missionaries to reach the world. Our goal is to see the Gospel continue advancing into future generations.
